Authenticity and our I AM…

Authenticity is the allure to explore and build the life that we were designed to lead. It doesn't matter how far we have wandered from who we were created to be or how fortified the walls have become that we’ve assembled to shield ourselves. It’s never too late to hit reset. Restoration and renewal are one choice away.

John and I are in the depths of early childhood with our babies ranging from almost two years old to six years old. In this phase of life and parenthood it is so easy to fall into that mindset of loss. We’ve felt this puzzling feeling of who am I? Grieving who we once were is so natural, and it is okay. One day you are living the life of pre children, then the next phase of potential marriage, new parenthood, and years later you may look back and think… Who have we become or rather, who are we outside of this?

I want you to get a notebook and a pen, if you prefer digital go ahead and open your notes page for me please. I want you to write I AM and finish that with a list of all the positive things you are. Personally for the longest time I sat there and looked at my paper…

I am a wife. A mom. A creative… then my mind sat… I thought “That’s it I guess” NOPE. We are going to dig deeper. Let's look again, around us, without the title. How would we explain to someone what our “I am” is?

I am a wife translates to, a partner, a best friend, a homemaker, a chef (although I am no good without my abuela’s recipes or Joanna Gaines’ cookbook)…

I am a minimalist, a lover of the simple life. From here bore Linen and Lodge, sharing my gifts, and helping people unload their lives. From wardrobe to technology, home, and sometimes mentally decluttering. It’s amazing what a brain dump can do!

LET’S KEEP DIGGING DEEPER. Are you a creative? For me it’s writing, florals and painting. Define those passions or curiousities you have. In the words of Gary Vee “try everything!” We owe it to ourselves to explore and invest in the things that can spark something within us.

I am a mom… I am strong. I gave birth to three beautiful and healthy children. Thank you body for getting me this far. And if you haven’t thanked your body today I encourage you to do so. Coming from a place of consistant GRATITUDE will move mountains for us!

Are you a sibling? Let's look beyond the title again. My sister and I love antiquing, visiting new places… and eating! We are hunters, we are travelers, and wanna be food critics haha! (Sorry Natalie) Maybe one day my sister will join me in blogging about locations or the best eats + treats of those treasured places.

Unfold what you find to be mundane and actively seek and identify the beautiful intricacies of your life. Underneath the things we think we are lies our true selves, to grow, to nurture, and to intentionally appreciate each layer of us. As we do this we slowly enhance our gifts, find our purpose, deepen our relationships and live authentically to who we are meant to be.
